Saucers of the Month: Roses in June

Do you love roses? I most certainly do! However, I have overheard florists say that bride’s do not want roses for their weddings nowadays because they are ‘boring’. Really? I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder and shows that I am a traditional girl at heart.

Roses are the most enduring symbols for love and appreciation and have been coveted through the ages for its simple beauty and intoxicating fragrance. Pink roses are a classic — they were the first colour rose cultivated, since pink roses are most common in the wild. And now they are available in every shade and colour imaginable.

Saucers of the Month: Lily of the Valley in May

What do Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy and Kate Middleton have in common? They all used Lily of the Valley in their wedding bouquets. In fact, Kate had about 100 stems in her modest but elegant bouquet.

For being such a small flower, Lily of the valley gives off such a tremendous scent. The flowers look like a small bell and they are generally usually white, although sometimes with a tinge of pink as well. Pull together a bunch of Lily of the Valley to make adorable, tiny bouquets.

Lily of the valley has the flower meaning of ‘return to happiness’ — humility, chastity, sweetness, purity and is said to bring luck in love.
